This is a great question but actually a very complicated answer without deep diving into your business plan. Things like size of print, colors used, saturation of colors all add up to different usage of ink. For example if you are printing key chains or mugs or t-shirts you will get much different costs per unit. Further if you are printing for a local school and their colors are deep purple and red, you will use more ink that if the school was light blue and yellow, richer colors use more ink. All of this adds up to a complicated answer.
However, one estimate we use can be a key chain can cost about 5 cents, a mug 25 cents and a t-shirt 50 cents. This should only be used for estimates and a full study of your own usage over time will provide the best answer. Generally speaking all of these costs compared to the retail value of these items makes the ink costs one of the lowest costs in your production.
