How hard is it to maintain a t-shirt printer?
This is a great question so we will answer it for a few of our most popular products:
DigitalHeat FX Printers - These are very low maintenance and this is just one of the reasons they are popular for start ups. The paper, toner and printer can easily sit for days or weeks without any human interaction (as long as kept in a temp/humidity controlled environment.) This is probably our most maintenance free machine.
Cutting Plotters - This is technically not a printer, but is a way to customize t-shirts. This is similar to the above with virtually no maintenance. Keep it clean and change a blade when it goes dull.
Sublimation Printers - These are still low maintenance but they are a liquid ink printer. So it is important to keep the printer on so it can maintain itself. There is not much to do if you aren't using it for many days, but its very important to leave it powered on and in a temp/humidity controlled environment.
Roland BN20 Print and Cut - This is going to be maintained similar to the sublimation printers mention above. It is a larger system and there are more variables (like white or metallic ink options) Therefore we would rate the maintenance a bit higher than the sublimation printers. However, still very easy, even for a lower production shop.
DTG Printers - DTG printers use a very specialty ink and are larger systems. These do require regular cleaning and printing. There are many details to describe but newer machines like the DTG G4 do most of the automatic work for you. However, usually these are recommended to be printing t-shirts more days than less.
DTF Printers - DTF printers are the highest production machines available through ColDesi. There are many moving parts and they require some maintenance from the ink to the physical machine. These are for use in production shops where they are going to be printing frequently. Printing often means regular cleaning and maintaining of the equipment. The DTF engineers have done their best to make maintenance simple, but it is required as with most high production commercial equipment.
