Sublimation gets its best results on light colored garments. The best way to think about it is if you spilled red sauce on a shirt. If it's a white shirt, the stain will be very visible right away. If the sauce spilled on a dark shirt, you wouldn't see if very much at all. Naturally, as you move down the darkness/lightness scale, you see the color more vividly.
