This material is very popular with golf/polo style shirts, also towels and other thick garments that still need stability. Embroidery on a t-shirt can be challenging, especially with a large design. T-shirts often shrink and distort when washed, which will pucker embroidery. The stronger the stabilizer the better for thin fabrics, you might want to try Ultra Cutaway Backing for the most stability
