The spacing refers to the space between the two arms of the embroidery machine. Various models and machines can adjust their spacing as well. So often when looking at hoops, people are also looking at how to place their arms.
We recommend contacting support in regards to hoops for your 1201 embroidery machine, they have been working on projects with the 1201 and other hoops we offer.
Its not recommend to purchase any hoops unless it explicitly says it works for the 1201, which currently at the time of answering this question, this product does not.
